The Effects of Cold Dry Storge on Growth and Flowering of Hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis L.) in Potted Forcing

Abstract

|
This experiment was initiated to study the growth and flowering responses influenced by the bulb cold storage (special pre-cooling) at 5℃ and compared to the bulb with cold moist at 9℃ in potted forcing.
All cultivars showed 100% flowering. Pays to the flowering were more accelerated when the buld was stored in the cold dry storage for 6 weeks at 5℃ than those when in the cold moist storage for 12 weeks of 9℃ for the flowering time.
The growth and development of flower stalks, inflorescences were somewhat delayed in the cold dry storage. However, speed of the flowering was increased more 7-8 days than those the cold moist storage of 9℃.
Therefore, it can be suggested that the bulbs receiving 5℃ dry storage can be successfully forced when the optimum temperature treatment is given.
